In the vault I got a 3 IL shoulder upgrade and a 223 staff. My current 1h / shield at 202 IL so the staff is a big upgrade. The shoulders are barely an upgrade. WebThe reason shamans generally don't use staves is because their shield provides some extra defensive stats, so all else being equal using a 1h/shield is strictly better than using a staff. In your case though, that staff is going to have so much more int and secondaries than your current 1h/shield combo so you should absolutely use it.

A staff can be used for all casters, while a mace cannot. Likewise, mail armor cannot be used by all casters, while cloth can. So if you want an heirloom set you can use for more than 1 or 2 classes, a cloth set + staff is probably the best choice.

If you aren't using an offhand weapon, you won't be getting your full damage output.
