WebThere are countless ways to diversify our orchards by incorporating perennials, woody plants, annuals, and bulbs. Companion planting creates more pollen sources for native bees while also performing functions like deterring pests, creating shade tolerant ground covers, or even helping keep down fruit diseases like the notorious apple scab. WebWe were delighted to launch the ‘Biodiversity on your Farm’ project this year, in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine. The project will challenge farmers to find 40 species on their farm across the year. The species have a pollinator focus and will include a weekly ‘Biodiversity management tip’.
